Montreal is just one international border away, and a lot easier to get to than many people imagine - all you need is a passport. Listed below are flight times and average car travel times from various cities in the Northeastern US:
Where will I stay when I’m in Montreal?
Clinique Michel Gagner currently has a partnership with Embassy Suites by Marriott. When you get surgery with us, a part of the surgery package has you staying at Marriott’s downtown luxury hotel for 48 hours under the supervision of our competent nurses. If you want to extend your stay past 48 hours, you are certainly welcome to do so. You can also stay with a family member, partner, or friend.

There’ll be plenty of long walks and bike rides, picnics at the park, street art hunts and time to discover the city’s many treasures. We invite you to explore the many “moments” you can experience in the city.
The term bariatric surgery describes a general category of procedures that includes a variety of weight-loss surgeries. Bariatric surgery effectively helps obese people lose weight either by reducing the volume of the stomach, removing a portion of the stomach, or re-routing the small intestine to a small stomach pouch.
Bariatric surgery can also help reduce the risk of other health problems such as type II diabetes and atherosclerosis. The preparation involved in bariatric surgery can even detect pre-existing conditions in their early stages and potentially save the patient’s life.
Many of these surgical procedures use a combination of intestinal hypoabsorption and
caloric restriction to bring about lasting weight loss. The team at Clinique Michel Gagner works with you to make sure bariatric surgery is the best option for you.
Bariatric surgery is recommended only for patients suffering from severe chronic obesity. It is a condition that is often difficult, if not impossible, to treat with diet and exercise alone. Patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 35 kg/m² or about 100 pounds over their normal weight generally undergo bariatric surgery.
Post-surgical support helps patients who have undergone weight loss surgery achieve the highest level of long-term success. We want to help you maintain a substantial and durable weight loss. We provide you with support, and reliable patient education and resources to help you throughout this life-changing process.
Electing to have surgery is never an easy decision to make. As with any surgical procedure, bariatric surgery has benefits and risks. Contact us for more information about Bariatric Surgery. Let our experts guide you through this life-changing process.
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy reduces stomach volume with the remaining section left in the shape of a sleeve. In addition to the decrease in the stomach size, it also dramatically decreases the amount of Ghrelin hormone production by the stomach, which is the hormone that triggers cravings and hunger.
A laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass consists of creating a Roux limb and a Bilio-Pancreatic limb to constrain digestion and ingestion.
A Mini Gastric Bypass provides the dual action of gastric reduction and intestinal hypoabsorption.
A gastric balloon reduces the space within the patient's stomach, so they feel full after consuming less food
The degree of weight loss largely depends on the type of surgery performed. The following is a range of expected extra-weight loss depending on the type of surgery:
Under normal conditions, patients are able to leave their recovery rooms and return home 48 hours after the surgery. We recommend that you stay in the region for a total of 5 days, including the 48-hour stay under our charge.
The time required before returning to work depends on the type of work. For desk work, return times are 1-2 weeks after surgery. For physical work, return times are 2-6 weeks after surgery.
Weight loss surgery works by changing the anatomy of the stomach and small intestine, which causes changes in appetite, metabolism, and satiety. This improves obesity-related health conditions:
All patients that undergo a surgical procedure have a probability of complications occurring after surgery. Some of the common bariatric surgery complications:
