Researchers are conducting a post-market clinical study to compare two ways of treating type 2 diabetes in adults. This study is called a post-market study because the study treatments are available for clinical use when prescribed by a doctor and not considered investigational or experimental.

This study is for individuals who:

• Have type 2 diabetes (HbA1c greater than 6.5%)

• Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 30 and 40 kg/m²

• Are 18 years of age or older

Participants will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to receive one of the following treatments:

• A short laparoscopic surgery (very small incisions) using magnets (MagDI System) to help with weight loss and management of type 2 diabetes; OR

• A structured medical treatment program (with the medication Wegovy)

Note: Participants assigned to the medical treatment group may be eligible for surgery after 12 months, according to study criteria.

Participation includes:

• A medical evaluation

• Regular follow-up visits for 2 years

This is a research study. Participation is voluntary.
