Incisions and Dressing

This section is a series of procedures and precautions related to closing a wound or surgical incision

Location of the incisions

The number of incisions varies between 5 and 7.

The length of the incisions is 1 to 2 cm.

Depending on the morphology of your body and the type of surgery.

One incision is located inside the navel and the rest around the around the abdomen.

Bariatric Incisions.

Superficial dressings

Superficial dressings are applied immediately after surgery.

Will be removed by the nurse at the hotel just before your discharge.

No care required on your part.

Superficial Dressings.

Steristrips

Thin adhesive dressings

Are applied through the incisions (star-shaped)

Allows closure of the incisions

Usually in place for 2-3 weeks

  • Roll up and fall down by themselves
  • If still in place: gently remove them after showering when well soaked
Steristrips.

Particularity

Remove the steristrips at the navel 7 days after surgery after a shower to avoid moisture accumulation (infection)
