How to prevent/minimize dehydration?

Drink at least 1.5 L of fluids per day

Drink small amounts of fluids more frequently (30-60 ml every 15 minutes).

Drink beverages containing electrolytes.

If you experience vomiting or diarrhea, it is important to drink more fluids to replace the losses.

Signs and symptoms

  • Dark urine

  • Decreased urine production

  • Decreased skin elasticity

  • Fatigue

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Dry mouth/tongue

  • Intense thirst
