Bariatric Surgery in British Columbia

If you are someone who struggles with weight issues, undergoing bariatric surgery could be the best decision you ever make. Sometimes, diet and exercise simply aren't enough for the kind of rapid weight loss that some people need to change the long-term course of their health.

Bariatric surgery helps prevent the obesity-related diseases and other health complications that many people suffer from and can set you on the path to a healthy future.

Obesity in BC

In British Columbia, roughly 23.1% of adults are obese. This growing segment of the population faces increased risks for a variety of health problems. For example, obese people are more than four times more likely to develop type-2 diabetes, more than three times more likely to be diagnosed with high blood pressure, and more than twice as likely to suffer from heart disease than people with a healthy weight. Any one of these conditions presents a serious, potentially life-threatening, concern. But bariatric surgery can help people lose weight quickly while reducing their risk for all the aforementioned health problems, as well as many more.

Weight Loss Surgery

Vancouver residents, as well as people all over BC, benefit from the high quality of life that residing in a beautiful natural setting with a mild climate provides. But, if your weight is out of control, these benefits can be difficult to enjoy.

Whether controlling your weight has been a life-long issue or something that crept up in recent years, there are safe ways to initiate the kind of rapid and long-term weight loss you have been looking for. Weight loss surgery, like a gastric bypass, has been proven to be safe and effective at helping people bring about lasting change, when it comes to their weight and health outcomes.

We recommend that travelling patients should be accompanied by a family member or a caretaker. Traveling patients usually spend a total of five nights in Montreal, two of which are already included in the operative fee.
