Gastroscopy
Use this checklist to help you prepare for your surgery.
Stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs at least 4 weeks before the procedure (take Tylenol if needed).
Stop taking your proton pump inhibitor medication (e.g. Pantoloc) 4 weeks before the procedure.
Do not drink alcohol at least 48 hours before the procedure.
Quit smoking as soon as possible.
Follow the instructions given by your surgeon during the consultation (if applicable)
Fasting from 10:00 pm the day before the procedure.
To bring with you in the suitcase:
Bring the bare minimum.
Allow the entire day for the duration of the appointment at the clinic.
Take the medication requested by the nurse as soon as you wake up (if applicable).
Stop taking all fluids including water and clear juices 3 hours before admission time.
Take a shower on the morning of the procedure.
For men: make sure to keep the beard very short.
Remove all jewelry.
Leave any valuable items at home.
Short nail and without nail polish on the hands.
Do not wear makeup the day of the surgery.
Present yourself at the admission time indicated in the nurse's email.
Make sure you are accompanied at the time of discharge. You will not be able to drive
